FH6 Skill Points Guide — How to Earn & Spend Skill Points
Skill points are one of the most valuable resources in Forza Horizon 6. They unlock car mastery perks (including wheelspins, credits, and XP boosts), and efficient farming can dramatically accelerate your progression.
This guide covers the fastest ways to earn skill points and the best ways to spend them.
What Are Skill Points?
Skill points are earned by building skill chains while driving. Every drift, near-miss, speed burst, and wreckage combo adds to your skill score. When you stop chaining skills (by crashing, going too long without a new skill, or manually banking), your accumulated score converts into skill points:
| Skill Score | Skill Points Earned |
|---|---|
| 10,000 | 1 |
| 25,000 | 2 |
| 50,000 | 5 |
| 100,000 | 10 |
| 250,000 | 25 |
| 500,000 | 50 |
| 1,000,000 | 100 |
Best Skill Farming Locations
1. The Highway (Best for Beginners)
The Tomei Expressway (south of Osaka) is the most accessible skill farming spot:
- Long, straight roads with light traffic
- Easy to chain Speed + Near Miss + Wreckage skills
- No off-road terrain to slow you down
- Expected rate: 50-70 skill points per 10 minutes
2. The Airport (Best for Dedicated Farming)
The Osaka Airfield in the southern part of the map is the most efficient skill farming location:
- Massive open tarmac area with no obstacles
- Infinite donuts for easy drift chains
- Crushable objects around the perimeter
- Expected rate: 80-120 skill points per 10 minutes
3. Farmland (Best Aggressive Farming)
The agricultural fields in Kansai Countryside offer:
- Wide-open spaces with fences and crops to smash
- Easy to chain Wreckage + Drift + Speed skills
- Fences respawn quickly
- Expected rate: 60-90 skill points per 10 minutes
4. The Goliath (Passive Farming)
Running the Goliath circuit at high speed naturally generates:
- Speed skills on the straights
- Drift skills through corners
- Near Miss skills from traffic
- Expected rate: 20-30 skill points per lap (plus credits)
Best Cars for Skill Farming
| Car | Why It's Best | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Hoonigan Ford RS200 Evolution | 2x skill multiplier, AWD+power, amazing at the airport | 300k |
| Formula Drift #64 Nissan Z | Excellent drift multiplier, perfect for donut farming | 350k |
| Ford Transit | Surprisingly high damage multiplier for fence farming | 40k |
| Maserati MC20 | Good all-round skill multiplier, fast for highway combos | 150k |
Budget pick: Buy the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon (60k) — it has a x2 skill multiplier when upgraded and a mastery tree with two Super Wheelspins.
Farming Strategy (Airport Method)
This is the most efficient skill farming method in FH6:
- Equip the Hoonigan RS200 or any car with 2x skill multiplier
- Go to the Osaka Airfield (south airport on the map)
- Hold the handbrake and do donuts in a tight circle
- Maintain the chain — as long as you're sliding, your skill score climbs
- Every 60-90 seconds (when your chain is long), tap the brake to bank the points
- Repeat
A 5-minute session yields 50-80 skill points. A 30-minute session can yield 300-500 skill points.
Pro tip: Turn off traction control and stability control to make donuts easier. Use manual transmission and hold 2nd gear.
Best Ways to Spend Skill Points
Car Mastery Perks (Best Value)
Each car has a unique mastery tree. The best investments:
| Car | Investment | Payoff |
|---|---|---|
| Dodge Challenger SRT Demon | 14 points | 2× Super Wheelspin |
| Toyota GR Supra (2022) | 11 points | Wheelspin + Credits boost |
| Hoonigan RS200 | 18 points | Wheelspin + XP boost + Credits boost |
| Maserati MC20 | 12 points | Wheelspin + Credits boost |
| Lamborghini Huracán STO | 15 points | Super Wheelspin + XP boost |
On average, each Super Wheelspin pays out 50k-150k credits worth of value. The Demon pays for itself in 10 minutes of farming.
Other Good Investments
- XP Boost perks on cars you drive often — faster leveling = more wheelspins
- Credits Boost perks on your favorite farming cars — up to 10% bonus credits on races
- Fast Travel perks some — cars reduce fast travel costs
Bad Investments
- Cosmetic perks (clothing, horns) — these don't help progression
- Car perks for cars you never drive — only spend points on cars you actually use
Skill Point Caps
- Maximum skill score per chain: 1,000,000 (banks as 100 skill points)
- Maximum skill points held: No cap — you can hold thousands
- Maximum per car mastery tree: Varies by car, typically 12-25 perks per car
