Performance Mode

Targets 60fps with dynamic resolution scaling. Series X maintains near-4K in most scenes; Series S uses 1080p with excellent anti-aliasing. Best for competitive racing and online play.

Real-World Performance

According to early technical tests:

  • Both consoles deliver stable frame rates — no major stutters or visible frame drops
  • Series X Quality mode retains almost all visual details vs Performance — the only difference is a slight resolution drop
  • Series S Performance mode is "extremely beautiful for its price point" (PureXbox)
  • No major asset culling between modes

Xbox Series S Verdict

Series S holds up impressively at 1080p/60fps in Performance mode. The game uses high-quality upscaling and anti-aliasing, so it looks noticeably better than a standard 1080p game. If you're on Series S, Performance mode is recommended for most gameplay.
